Hi I’m the Recovering Investment Banker. I started this blog as way to tell the many stories I’ve collected during a decade of investment banking experience, to connect with others who have had similar experiences, and to help others considering a banking career to know what it’s really like – the good and the bad. I also want to share how I survived, why I stayed, why I left, my experiences as a woman working in a male-dominated workplace. And finally, I’d like to share how I escaped the trading floor to find what really matters and how I maintain perspective these days.
Some of the anecdotes related here may sound outlandish, but with the exception of a few identifying details, every story is true. You will notice that I never mention the names of the banks I worked for or those from my guest contributors, because I prefer to avoid lawsuits.
I don’t believe that my experiences were unique to me – I certainly expect that others will have had similar experiences and I am interested to hear those experiences. Click here to contact me if you’d like to share something on the blog as a guest post. And as always, please comment on any posts that resonate with you.
I look forward to hearing from you, dear readers!
