Hi! I’m the Recovering Investment Banker. Thanks for visiting me here.
I started this blog as a way to tell the many stories I’ve collected during a decade of investment banking experience, to connect with others who have had similar experiences, and to help others considering a banking career to know what it’s really like – the good and the bad.
It’s also a way for me to share what I’ve learned about finding what really matters in life. What really matters to me? Most of all – family, friends, kindness and learning. Building relationships, making a difference, travel, reading, yoga – these are all different ways of learning. There’s always more to learn and there is no endpoint or mastery – it’s an infinite journey. I believe it’s a big part of making the most of life.
Why “Recovering” Investment Banker? Ten years in banking took its toll. There were lots of good experiences, but it was a long hard slog and I am glad to have a break, to take time out and focus on building a life that I know I’ll look back on with no regrets.
Everything I’ve written here is true, though I may change names or small details to avoid identifying specific banks or people for the privacy of all concerned. This is not at all meant to be an attack on investment banking as a career. I had some amazing experiences thanks to my career in banking. This is simply a space to share it all, without holding back.
